DIY Cake Stand

Stopping in real quick like to share a super easy DIY. Who doesn't love homemade jaunts? This cake stand that I whipped up in, oh, about two minutes tops, makes a gorgeous gift. Need a housewarming present? Look no further.

DIY Cake Stand
|| supplies ||
Large Plate (found mine at the Dollar Tree. Hey-oh)
Bowl (Dollar Tree)
Ceramic Glue (E-6000 is a good one, I just didn't have any on hand)
Twine (optional)
Cookie Mix (optional)

- I probably don't even need to type out instructions. But for those of you non-visual types, just basically put glue around the bottom rim of the bowl.

- Place the plate's bottom on top of the bowl's bottom. Okay. Did I just make that sound really confusing?

- Let dry.

- Wrap the the cake stand with twine (or ribbon, yarn, whateves) and add a bag of cookie mix. Done. It's a wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am type of thing.

Now go get to crafting. I also guest-posted this DIY over at Love Joleen Photography a few weeks ago!

Homemade Balsamic Dressing

Sorry I've been super MIA the past few days. Just to clarify, that's "missing in action" and not the rapper. One can never be too sure. From doing some major shopping, to visiting frands, and some park action in between, I've had a busy weekend. It was much needed.

I'm popping in this afternoon to share my favorite go to homemade dressing recipe. We are big salad eaters and even bigger sauce heads. A delish homemade dressing on the table next to a big garden salad is a definite must.

Homemade Balsamic Dressing
Adapted from Calorie Count

1/4 cup extra Virgin Olive Oil
3/4 cup Balsamic Vinegar
1 teaspoon minced Garlic
1/2 teaspoon Dried Oregano
2 teaspoons Dijon Mustard
1 pinch Salt
1 pinch freshly ground Black Pepper

- Combine all ingredients in a jar with a tight fitting lid. Shake well. Keep refrigerated.

A Two For One

My new obsession is this necklace I received courtesy of Valley Vintage Creations. It is a locket that has homemade solid perfume inside. Um. How amaze is that?! I don't know about you, but I like for my jewelry to be functional. Like Sarah Michelle Gellar's cross necklace in Cruel Intentions. Functional.

As you wear the necklace, your body temperature warms the perfume. I could smell the scent throughout the day, even without putting any on. Why didn't I think of this idea?! The locket has an antique brass look for the right amount of dainty and vintage. Love.
