Barn Doors

I swoon over these gorgeous doors.

These are a must in our new house. I love the ease yet absolute beauty barn doors exude. If you have been reading my thoughts for a while now, you'd know that I'm an absolute sucker for shabby chic and French country decor. And barn doors definitely fall under that category. They seem like a pretty easy DIY for updating a room in your home, too. Or you could even divide an open floor plan with them. The possibilities are endless.

If you are interested in these doors for your home, head over to Barn Door Hardware for just about everything you'd need to install one in your home. This great company has been around since the 1990's, so they know their stuff when it comes to hardware accessories. Plus, they have an amazing customer support team to handle any of your questions. Barn Door Hardware also has a blog that's pretty informative on everything barn door related.

This post was sponsored by Barn Door Hardware. Be sure to always take a quick minute and check out all of my wonderful sponsors. I only work with companies I'm compassionate about. Barn Door Hardware is one of them.

Winsome Words Wednesday and a Winner

Knock, knock. Knock. Is this thing on? 'Cause I'm back.

I hope you guys stuck with me through this absence slash family thing of mine. The funeral was obviously sad, but around 700 people showed up making it extremely beautiful. You could just feel the love for my cousin.

I enjoyed my super long weekend jam packed full of family faces. I even met a handful of members that I'd never met before. We did a whole lot of shopping, grilling out, talking, fish eating, reminiscing, and golf cart riding. We went out on my dad's boat and took Adrienne to her first rodeo. She wore her little cowboy girl boots and looked ahhhdorable. It's like good old country living when we go visit my family. It's effortlessly relaxing. And it's just what we needed.

Congrats C.V. S! You won the snugly sweet Blabla Celeste doll plus an adorable outfit for her! I will be emailing you soon! Thank you for all the people that entered. I had so much fun with this giveaway. Blabla is one of my favorite companies ever and it was an honor working with them.

Check back tomorrow for another great giveaway!

Winsome Words Wednesday

This week has been a long one. And it's only half way through.

We lost a family member yesterday. One that was still young. He had so much life left to live.

Death is the strangest thing to deal with. You don't expect to lose people. But it's inevitable.

I don't know which is worse. Knowing somebody doesn't have much longer to live, or them being taken from you without any notice.

My mother passed away from a heart attack a few years ago. It was the darkest time in my life.

I just knew for sure she would come home after being in the hospital. I talked to her on the phone the night before she was to be discharged. She was ready to get out of there and wanted to be home.

She wanted to hold me. She wanted to hold Adrienne.

My mother told me that she loved me so very much. And she was so proud of me. And then she said she had to go. It was 8:30, Sunday night. No more calls after that. Hospital rules.

The hospital was discharging her. That meant everything was going to be okay. I just knew it would. She was so strong. I didn't have any doubts.

The next morning, my child woke me up by cooing. We were asleep together in my mom's bed. I turned over to see the biggest smile I had ever seen on her tiny little face. She was looking up at the ceiling. She started giggling so hard, while trying to desperately grab something in front of her.

In that moment, I felt something that I will remember always. It was a feeling of calmness. And reassurance that everything was going to be okay. And so much love. I felt so much love.

My mother had passed away. I didn't know until forty minutes later.

After the storm of emotions, I realized my six-month-old child had seen my mother one last time in bed that morning.

That moment in time is engraved into my soul.

Winsome Words Wednesday is a little different today. I want to share this video about Zach Sobiech. The 22 minutes of this video is worth every tear shed.

Life is about living it to the fullest.
It's about being genuine and kind.
It's about helping others.
It's about knowing that life isn't forever.
That it's very short in the grand scheme of things.

Life is to always be cherished.

Rest in sweet peace Zach. Prayers to his beautiful family and all the families in Oklahoma. And Boston. And anyone else that needs uplifting.

I can't stress enough how important it is to love your loves. Never let them forget that.

****************************

I will be out of town for the rest of the week. I'll be with my family during this time of darkness. Except it won't be dark. It will be full of family and laughter and remembrance of my dear cousin.

I will be back Tuesday.

I hope everyone has an amazing Memorial weekend.

Blabla Kids

A few weeks ago, two Blabla knitted plushies came to our house. And boy were we happy campers. I say "we" because I fell madly in love with these things, too. I don't know what it is about them. Maybe it's their fat squishy bodies? Maybe it's their cuteness factor? Maybe it's how well made they are? Whatever it is, I'm, err, my child, no wait, we are hooked.

One of the Blabla plushies we received was Celeste. In my opinion she looks just like Adrienne. It's hilarious. She has short brown hair with thick little bangs and blue eyes, just like her new mommy. Plus, they are both pretty plump.

Adrienne was all up in arms because I wouldn't let her play with her new Blablas right away. I know. I'm awful. I had to take their pictures first. There are always rules. After I pried them from my deprived child's hands, I took Celeste and her travel friend River to my room to put them up for just a day or so. I realize that's about twenty years in kid time. #childrenofmommybloggerprobs.

That night, a funny feeling came over me. When I was getting ready for bed I had this strange urge to sleep with these plushies. It was like they were calling out to snuggle. I knew my other half would think I had gone off the deep end, so I didn't bring them into our bed.

Anyohtobeachildagain, I did tip-toe them into Adrienne's bedroom and placed them into her sleeping arms. I felt bad for making her wait to cuddle them. Plus, I just knew they would bring her magical dreams of unicorns and kittens shopping in a toy store. I'm sure they did.

Thank you Blabla for creating such amazing playmates for children.

Celeste doll c/o Blabla. Be sure to check back next week for a Blabla giveaway!
