Pottery on Etsy

Our little family has really gotten into reading labels. We try to eat organic, we use sulfate free shampoo, and every light bulb in our house is a swirly. So, when I was trying to think of Christmas presents for William, the first idea was one of those old fashioned shaver bowls. You know.

That's where Pottery on Etsy came into play. I literally scoured Etsy for hours looking for the perfect shave bowl. And then I found it. A rustic clay bowl with a matching brush thingy.

Pottery on Etsy's owner, Sheila, was a doll to work with. She is the mastermind behind all of the pottery creations, like her new birdhouses.

But let me get back to the point of this post. William adores his shave bowl. He uses it every single morning. I bought a round soap bar to go with it. He just lathers the soap up with the brush. And voila, it makes a super thick shaving creme, without all the nasty ingredients that the store bought shaving cremes have in them. And plus, it's good for the environment. No aerosol and no metal bottles to throw away. Win slash win.

Be sure to check out Pottery on Etsy and buy a shaver bowl for your main man. Oh and THIS plate and cup set is too legit. My birthday is coming up! Hint, hint.

Personal Creations

I was all set for Christmas this past year. I had all the gifts bought well in advance. Santa was bringing Adrienne a new American Girl doll. That was her big present. Then two weeks before Christmas, Adrienne dropped a bomb. She said she wanted Santa to bring her a train table.

Wait. Huh?!

Granted, my child has always gravitated towards train tables. She loves taking things apart and building them back. Her father's child if you will. They both sit for literally hours building Lego creations. Or playing video games. Or coding websites. Okay, the latter is just William. But, back to the point, my kid is a builder. And she tells me she wants a train table two weeks before Christmas? #thiskid.

Since I'd already over spent on Adrienne's presents, I told her that Santa does have to build toys for every little kid that believes in him, so she may not always get exactly what she wants. That statement went in one ear and out her little other (as they all usually do). She told me she was just going to wish really hard and that Santa always listens to her wishes. Because, magic.

Duh, Mom.

Well, to my disbelief, there really is a Santa. But he was posing as a company called Personal Creations. A few days after Adrienne was writing her fifth letter to Old Saint Nick, Personal Creations hit me up asking if I would review one of their umpteen-million personalized gifts.

I was all like, "Um. YEA!" I mean, I'm a sucker for personalized things. Maybe it's because I have an unusual name. When I was little it was always like, hey kid, good luck finding "JADE" on those personalized pencils. I think that scared me for life.

I scoured over all the different items I could have "Jade" on, but then I saw it. A Kidkraft train slash Lego table. And that's when I knew Santa was real. I still hear the bell!

Personal Creations sent my little creator the thing she wanted the most for Christmas with her name on it.

Needless to say, on Christmas morning, Adrienne freaked her little freak and was all like, American Girl who?

She has played daily with this train table since.

So, all you gift-buying-folks (twice hyphenated), do yourselves a solid and head over to Personal Creations. This is a magical company. Be sure to check them out on Facebook and Twitter for even more gift buying goodness.

Post script - I will share photos of Christmas morning sometime in the near future. Prom.

Benna

Y'all. Tomorrow is Christmas Eve. I can't believe it. This year has completely flown by. I feel like I'm getting too old too fast and will probably continually complain about how this time thing is a crock of ish.

Since we are on the verge of Christmas, I thought I should talk about jewels. One of my favorite online jewelry stores is Benna. Every single time I look on their website, I legitimately start to drool.

This amazing jewelry company was started by a young jewelry designer named Benna Harry. She hand picks all of the jewelry to make sure each piece is both exquisite and cutting-edge, just like their collection of gold designer charm bracelets. Any of these bracelets would make a great gift. Benna also has many amazing jewelry designers. Jewelry designer Sydney Evan is one of them.

Here are just some of my favorite pieces from Benna. It was super hard to narrow it down to just these.

Be sure to check out Benna on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram!

Holiday Gift Guide: For Me

Dear Santa (and anyone else wanting to pretend to be Santa),

My wish list is pictured above. I'd like pretty much everything. And I'll take any of the boots from Free People in a size 7.

You're the best!

Sincerely,
Jade

P.S.- I still hear the bell!

Endeavour Toys GIVEAWAY [OVER]

This giveaway is OVER. Congrats Harley! You have won your choice of WoolPet from Endeavour Toys! Thanks to all you other folks who pressed your luck!

Okay. Guys. I have to admit something. I'm so sick of all these other bloggers and people on Pinterest showing me up. They bake the most ridiculous foods, decorate some amazing parties, craft the coolest stuff. AND then take awesome photos of it. Like how? I can barely get dinner on the table at a decent hour. Ramen, again? Sorry I'm not sorry.

Anyineedmorehoursintheday, Endeavour Toys, a toy company that specializes in clever kid things, sent me a WoolPet Needle Felting Kit, one of their best selling crafting kits, to help get my creative juices flowing. Now, this isn't a craft for kids. It's more like a grown-up activity, and then you give the kiddos your finished product. Yea, I just spent all this time creating a tiny, pretend pet for you, so don't destroy it, okay?

I started on my fox pet, not really knowing what it entailed. These WoolPets come with directions, different shades of wool, a few beads for eyes and noses, and the needles. Yes. Needles. These felting needles are legit. They are probably sharper than any sewing needle I've encountered. I even literally stabbed myself with the thing and bled for an hour straight. I immediately quit for a while because, well, I love and need my fingers. Needless to say, you should probably use a thimble or a concrete glove while doing this.

I'm not going to lie. After I got the hang of needle felting, it was relaxing. My fox started looking like a bear-monkey mutant, but I didn't care. I was creating something again. And I felt good about it. It was also fun that Adrienne was watching me with amazement. She also kept praising my progress? attempt? work. Plus, these kits are made with all natural materials in the USA, and the box the kit comes in can even be turned into a bird feeder! Win slash win.

My fox turned out to actually look somewhat fox-ish. Sure, his legs could have been skinnier and shorter, but Adrienne loved him and named him Mr. Foxers. There is even enough wool in these kits to have another go round at a Mrs. Foxers in the future.

Now for the GIVEAWAY. I've teamed up with Endeavour Toys to offer one lucky winner their choice of WoolPet! There are some pretty cute little critters to choose from! Like hedgehogs, owls, and kittens, oh my! They even have holiday kits perfect for gift-giving. The winner will also receive a foam pad to make their needle felting life easier.

For your chance to win, just log into the Rafflecopter below (or make a new Rafflecopter account), and follow the directions for each entry. Please make sure to actually do what's required for each entry. If you just click enter and not do what it's asking, I'll know. If you are unsure how to do one, skip it and contact me. I can't stress this enough. I go back and check to make sure the winner actually did what was required. I will not let cheaters win. DON'T CHEAT. Meh.
