Skirting Around

I have never found the perfect Christmas tree skirt. And every one that I've truely liked costs over a hundred dollars. I could never imagine spending that much on something that gets used for one month and is covered up by presents. I guess people do. That's what is wrong with Americans. Too much? I dunno. That's just my theory. Perhaps you have your own.

Moving on. I've decided to take matters into my own hands and make one. I had some left-over fabric collecting dust and an idea. So, here's my light bulb.

DIY Christmas Tree Skirt

String
Fabric
Ribbon
Scissors

- If you wanna make a snazzy skirt for your tree, all you need is some string, fabric and/or ribbon. Seriously.

- I cut some string long enough to tie in a bow around the truck of the tree. I cut about 25 more pieces of the same length and knotted each end together. Now, it's thick. You could just skip this and use a wide piece of ribbon or string.

- I measured about how long I wanted the skirt to be, then cut strips out of my fabric that were double the length of my liking.

- Fold a strip of fabric in half. Loop the center point under your string/ribbon, then pull the ends down over the string/ribbon and tuck them into the loop. Pull tight.

- Repeat this process until you have reached the end, but remember to leave room on the string/ribbon to tie it around the tree. I also added ribbon to my skirt. You could even do a whole skirt of ribbons. I just used what I had on hand. So, that means this project cost nothing, which is how I like it. Zilch. And I love it more than that 120 dollar tree skirt I had been eyeballing. I also could use this as a skirt for my little fashion queen. I mean, it's basically a free two for one. Hey-oh.
