thredUP's Raise A Hand for Teachers Program #RaiseAHand

I'm super excited that I'm teaming up with thredUP for the Raise A Hand for Teachers Program! thredUP has partnered with AdoptAClassroom.org to give a big round of applause to all the terrific teachers out there. As reported by AdoptAClassroom.org, teachers use around $500 of their own money every year to supply their classrooms. Also, about 70% of teachers have even provided their students with clothing, such as shirts, shoes, and jackets.

I've worked with thredUP many times before and have always loved what they do. This amazing company specializes in taking gently used clothing and turning around and selling it for up to 90% off of retail. That's extremely great when it's time for back to school shopping. thredUP offers many all time favorite children's brands such as Mini Boden, GapKids, Matilda Jane, Zara Kids, and many more. You can shop thredUP.com/Back-To-School or search for their mobile app.

Since I'm a lucky enough to be a stay-at-home mommy, we decided it would be best to homeschool Adrienne. I've been working with her for a year now, and instead of her going into kindergarten this fall, she has been working on first grade lessons. She is ahead of the game.

So, seeing that we don't technically have a teacher from my child's school to nominate, I'll nominate a sweet friend of mine, Diana Hinton for thredUP's #RaiseAHand program. She is a retired middle school teacher who still currently subs.

To get an insight of what teaching is like, I asked her what her thoughts were and here is what she had to say:

"Being a teacher was both fulfilling and frustrating. It's much harder than you'd think. I loved teaching middle school because the kids are still young enough to be amazed, and old enough to catch on to your jokes. I loved the energy they have, and it helped energize me. I love learning, and that's a good thing because teachers have to learn new things all the time.... never ends, which was the best part. It was the only job where I NEVER got bored. A teacher puts in long hours developing lesson plans, preparing materials, trying new experiments to do with the students, making out tests to state requirements, then grading those. A teacher spends countless hours trying to prepare the students for state testing, too. We, as teachers, are expected to work ballgames of all kinds, stay periodically for after school detention, take students on field trips, and we have to have conferences with parents, which is sometimes not so pleasant. Teaching is sort of a game to see what works on different students. I often used three different methods during lessons to help children understand the objectives. Even though it is extremely stressful and hectic, it was super rewarding."

Three teachers will win $2,500 for their classroom and $500 to shop at thredUP. Fifty runner-ups will receive $100 to shop at thredUP. The nomination period is from July 15th to August 23rd. The winners will be announced on Tuesday, September 8th. Read more nominations and view cute videos of children thanking their teachers at thredUP.com/Teachers

A big thank you to all the amazing teachers and to thredUP for being so giving.

Schoola and KIPP Academy #Clothes4Schools

I'm a big thrifter. I go to Good Greatwill on the reg. I also love a good antique shop. And if I could wake up early enough for yard sales, I'd hit those up, too. I become a total mouth breather when I'm in the thrifting zone, and I always find awesome treasures at amazing prices.

When it comes to Adrienne's clothes, I hate spending a fortune on an outfit that she'll only fit into a few months. And that's the time frame, because my kiddo is growing. ::bittersweet face:: A lot of Adrienne's clothes are bought second hand. I can get adorable things that are gently used for next to nothing. #heyoh.

With that said, Schoola, an online resale children's store with amazing prices, is a great place to shop. You can find fantastic name brand clothing for the kids at a totally second hand price. Plus, you can shop while never leaving your house. Win slash win slash winning all around.

Another amazing thing about Schoola is they will also take your child's used clothes! All you have to do is simply request a Schoola Bag and it will be sent to your house. Fill the bag with outgrown clothes and pop it into the mail. Schoola even pays for shipping! 40% of the proceeds from the sale of your donated items will be given to a school of YOUR choice.

Plus, for every transaction that is tracked or for every person who requests a Schoola donation bag via my unique referral code, Schoola will donate $1 to KIPP Academy. KIPP Academy is a small school located in the Bronx. This school works extremely hard to help needy children. 95% of the student body qualifies for free or reduced-cost lunches. And more than 1 in 7 children there receives special education services. In the midst of all the hardships these children endure, music touches and engages them. They even have a slogan on their music room door- "All of us will learn music."

Also, when you donate clothes and fill out your school information, $2 of every $5 made will go back to your child's school! That's what we call a win slash win for everyone!

So, get out there and help the world by shopping second hand. And help schools in need by shopping with Schoola.

20 Days of School with Schoola and KIPP Academy #Clothes4Schools

My child comes from a very musical family. Her daddy is a keyboardist and was even in a band for the first few years of her life. Her great, great, grandmother is a pianist and can sing beautifully, as well as two of her aunts. A few of her uncles dabble in music, also. And on my side of the family we are related to Richard Rodgers of Rodgers and Hammerstein. So, naturally music is in her blood.

Here are just four of the hundreds of photos we have of Adrienne surrounded by music. The first one is of her playing when she was around two, the second photo is of her and her daddy being filmed for a documentary, the third is her and I at a music festival watching her daddy's band play, and lastly, mini Adrienne on a mini piano. Ugh! What happened to my little baby?!

Adrienne thrives on music, as do most children. And many times, music isn't available for kids. Music isn't a focus at home for them and for tons of schools, it isn't even an option. That said, I'm extremely excited to be teaming up with Schoola to help fund KIPP Academy's Music Program.

So from now until August 18th, you and I can help KIPP Academy reach their goal of $25,000 to fund their music program. I've teamed up with Schoola to help make this happen. If you don't know about Schoola, they are an online store that sells gently used children's clothes. Another neat thing about Schoola is that they will also take your child's used clothes! ThredUP's Day One Look

Hey lovelies! I hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend filled with lots of glittered ish. We did. We even found a vintage RCA record player at Greatwill. Like one of those big cabinet things that your parents had in the 80's (where everything was Hall & Oates and nothing hurt).

That said, thrift-shopping owns muh face. I love the thrill of never knowing what a store has. Sometimes you find complete treasures. Other times you come out empty-handed and needing to be slathered in Germ-X. That's where ThredUP, an online consignment store, comes into play.

ThredUP buys clothes that take up valuable space in your closet. Then they resale them at amazing prices. They have so many designers and even have children's clothes. Like baby Zara. I die.

So when ThredUP contacted me about picking out a week's worth of clothes, I was all like, let me pull up a chair, raise my eyebrow, and think about that one for a hawt minute. Um. Yes. I'm game.

I literally spent five hours on their website going through not even half of their clothes. And thank sweet baby Jesus that I didn't have to go through the kid's clothes. I'd probably still be going through everything three months later.

So, this week, I'm going to be doing things a little differently. Each day I'm going to "model" a different item I received from ThredUP. Good luck to everyone involved.

Spoiler alert: I'm a blogger, not a model. I love being behind the camera. I like that feeling of being in control. I get super awkward being the subject. And then I have no idea how to work my camera on the whole self-timer mode. And how to pose. I just hit the self-timer button and press my luck. That's basically my strategy. Perhaps you have a different method. And that's okay.

Day one: I received a Nick and Mo peasant style dress from ThredUP. The price? $17.49. I paired it with my Minnetonka suede back zippered moccasins and Ray Ban Wayfarers. I also added a little thrifted belt.

And I have no idea why I'm looking at the sun in most of the photos. It's obviously my go-to pose. Bam.

Sponsor Highlight: Charm City Babies

"Co-founders Scott Smith and Richie Frieman share many of the same interests including music, pop culture, vintage designs, a good t-shirt, and most importantly, their families. As fathers of little ones themselves, Scott and Richie were disenchanted by the limited and basic offerings of designs on children's clothes and wanted to do something about it.

The idea was born when Richie came to visit the new addition to Scott's family and saw the custom made outfit Leyton was wearing. After discussing the lack of "cool" options available in stores, Richie and Scott decided to create a line of baby clothing that had the same vintage, rock, and pop culture inspired style that they would want on shirts for themselves, only geared towards babies.

While bouncing design ideas back and forth, Richie and Scott decided that they wanted to do more than just keep babies looking cool - they wanted to help out those in need. By donating a piece of clothing to charity for every one sold through the Charm City Babies website, Richie and Scott are not only helping babies in need, but are also helping to spread the CCB style.

Charm City Babies works tirelessly with children’s hospitals, NICU's, children centers, and organizations around the world to offer children a chance to start their lives not only comfortably but in style as well."

Mud Pie Giveaway + Contest

A few weeks ago, Mud Pie contacted me asking if I'd like to participate in a blogger contest. Having always loved this brand I was super excited. They offer some of the prettiest baby and toddler outfits imaginable. As soon as I knew I was having a little girl, I ordered a Mud Pie tutu. Every newborn baby girl needs a tutu. Right? Right.

Anyways, Mud Pie sent me three of the most adorable Christmas outfits ever for Adrienne. All of which are full of ruffles and tulle. Both things are crucial in a little girl's life. I stuffed my child in this I Love Santa outfit and put her to work being a pint sized model. Trying to get her to cooperate is a job in itself. After telling her I was going to fire her and she wasn't getting her payment of candy, I ended the session with tons of pictures of her pouting. Natch.

So, here is the deal. I need your help in voting for little Adrienne in this Mud Pie contest. I've even teamed up with Mud Pie to offer my own contest so you can win that adorbs I Love Santa outfit for your toddler princess. Just log into the Rafflecopter below (or make a new Rafflecopter account), and follow the directions for each entry.

Please make sure to actually do what's required for each entry. If you just click enter and not do what it's asking, I'll know. If you are unsure how to do one, skip it and contact me. DON'T CHEAT.

Charm City Babies

It's a rainy day around these parts this afternoon. Can I just say that I love stormy weather? It's relaxing. Well, except when I'm watching my frand's two kids and mine. So, I guess that means we are stuck in the house, unless I want a "three toddlers covered in mud" kind of day. No dice. Inside we reside. Wish me luck.

Anyfortheloveofryangoselingi'mnotababysitter, this rad baby company, Charm City Babies, sent Adrienne a onesie to romp around in. They have created a line of baby clothes that have the same appeal to vintage and music loving parents, like me. What's even cooler than their threads is that for every outfit sold, they donate one to charity. How cool is that? Cooler than the cool kids on the back of the bus cool. Shout out to G. Love and Special Sauce! Hey-oh.

I couldn't decide between a onsie with "#cutestbabyever" or "Believe the Hype." I chose the latter, because, well, obvs. The only downside of Charm City Babies is that they don't offer clothes above 24 months right now. The 24 month actually fit Adrienne very well, with room to grow, and she normally wears a 3t. But don't worry, they're a new company, so they'll be launching more kid sizes soon!

Super soft "Believe the Hype" onseie c/o Charm City Babies. Handmade flower crown c/o my schweet girlfrand. Pink skirt from Target.

And go HERE to enter the Panera Bread gift card giveaway! It ends tomorrow!
