Dolls for Dolls

My child is crazy lucky. She is adorable, extremely loved, and gets all the good stuff. All the time. Like this rag doll she named Daisy from Mizy.me. It's a handmade cloth dolly that dresses better than I do. From the removable bow in her hair down to her red glittered shoes, this doll has major appeal.

Adrienne is really into undressing and redressing her babies, and this one is no different. Daisy's dress and fur stole can both be removed. Perfect for a child that mommies her babies. My heart just melts when I watch her imagination soar. She's so gentle and affectionate with her dolls. And if they've been really ornery, she'll put them in time out. I guess she's learning from the best.

Mizy.me was started by a young designer who worked for numerous big name brands. She decided to start her own business by making fashion dolls. And boy are we glad she did. Her take on the classic rag doll is amazing. They are now hip and feminine. No Raggedy Anns around these parts. Just stylish plush friends for my child to hug on. And that's just what she does.

On top of making super cute dolls for adults like me children, they also give back. Mizy.me recently created a doll that helps children with cancer. The Jude doll is all about finding beauty within. And it always helps to have a little friend to snuggle with when you aren't feeling well. Plus, 20% of the sales from that doll will go directly to St. Jude's hospital! And that makes so very happy. Helping people is what it's really all about.

I love how children are mostly oblivious to hardships. Everything is usually rainbows and unicorns and that's how it should be. Mizy.me just reinforces that kind of blissful kiddie lifestyle.

If you have fallen in love with this doll, check out all the other amazing ones at Mizy.me. There are some great sales going on right now! Mizy.me is also offering my readers 10% off their order! Use the coupon code CoffeeandCashmere at checkout!

Valentine's Day and a WINNER

We woke Adrienne up early this morning so she could see her Valentine's Day happy. She's not a morning person. At all. The first thing she said (with a very perplexed tone) was, "What's going onnn??!" She kills me.

Congrats Katherine M.!! You won the double layered cardigan from Yogi Clothing!!! I will be emailing you later this afternoon! Thank you to everyone who entered!! There will be another brand new contest next week! Check back on Saturday for a sneak peek!

Stuffed Strawberries

Can we talk about Valentine's day for a brief minute? I've never been a big fan. It's totally the worst Hallmark holiday. Ever. You usually get your hopes up every year, only to be crushed. Or maybe just me? Like the time I got a speeding ticket on Valentine's. That was a good one. Or years ago when William and I drank a little too much at a Valentine's party, which ended in us having a huge argument and him going to sleep passing straight out in a friend's car. I pretty much left him in it.

I mean I love holidays, but Valentine's? Let's not, okay?

William is going to read this and make a big stink saying not all have been bad. And he is right. There have been one or two good ones. Like last year I awoke to a fancy smancy breakfast. And to a completely destroyed kitchen. What can I say? He is a man and cleaning up isn't his forte. Plus, I think the saying goes, "It's the thought that counts." Or something like that.

Anygetoutofhereheartday, if you are looking for something to whip up on Thursday, give these little guys a chance. Stuffed strawberries literally melt in your mouth-parts. Plus, cream cheese is involved. Win. Win.

Stuffed Strawberries
|| ingredients ||
1 lb package of Strawberries
1 box Cream Cheese
2-4 tablespoons Powered Sugar
1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
Graham Crackers

- Rinse strawberries and then cut the tops off. Then slice them down the center so you have two halves.

- Beat cream cheese, powered sugar, and vanilla extract together in a mixing bowl.

- Spoon mixture into a Ziploc bag. Snip the corner off. Pipe the cream cheese mixture onto the tops of the strawberry halves. I used the Pampered Chef's Easy Accent Decorator for my piping.

- Chop graham crackers into crumbs. Sprinkle over the strawberries.

- Devour.

Rag Dolls

Our household is obsessed with Bonnie, a handmade doll from Milipa. She came all the way from Italy just to be best friends with Adrienne. And bffs are just what they are. Those two have been pretty much inseparable.

When Adrienne opened the package, she screamed, "Bonnie! My Bonnie!" I was like, whaa? You remembered her name? We hadn't talked about the dolly since the day we picked her out. Are three year olds supposed to have long term memory? I didn't know.

Anyhoo, my child has fallen in love with Bonnie, as have we. Even her daddy said she was one of the prettiest dollies he has ever seen. You just can't beat handmade. And all Milipa's toys are just that. The detail in their plushes are incredible. From rag dolls, to stuffed mice and clouds, each is beautifully original.

Here are a few of the photos of the two new best frands. I have a feeling they will be close for a very long time. And check out that packaging little Bonnie came in. It's like a straight old school parcel from the streets of Italy. ::swoon::

Post script- My grandfather was from Italy, so this doll means a lot to me, too. I love how Bonnie will be one of those timeless keepsakes. One my child and I will cherish forever. Be sure to check out Milipa and fall in love. There is also a Milipa Facebook page for more cuteness on the regular!

Told.

 Me: "I need a bigger closet. I can't see anything in here."

Adrienne: "Maybe you should get some sunglasses."

::wipes hands::

My work here is obviously done.
