Cookie Clutter
I have spent the past two days cleaning. Yesterday was dedicated towards laundry. Yes, a full day. So many piles of clothes that I didn't even get to blog. Our house is officially closing in on me. If I asked my other two halves (does that make sense? notsomuch? I have never been good with fractions), they'd probably say the same thing, too.
William and I have always had a ton of stuff. Then, we added a child into the mix, and gained a whole lot more extra necessities. A whole lot more. I can't blame our junk lair on our daughter. She sure didn't march her sassy bloomers into any store and drop money down on her KidKraft kitchen. Or my giraffe-print lamp shade. Or her daddy's Reebok high-tops. I did. I bought that stuff. Although, my little fashion queen sure would have looked cuter doing the buying.
My problem is the need to acquire things. Stuff that we don't actually need, but somehow I bring it home. When I am on the edge of the necessary and not so necessary cliff, I always resort back to my "I do need it" comfort zone. I have this impulse to buy when I see any sort of sale. Especially if I'm out antiquing or thrifting. Silver plated gravy pitcher? Can't find another one of these.. ever. Who am I kidding?!
I am not on hoarder status, but borderline collector. Yikes. I don't even have a collection of one thing, like stamps. Just a collection of non-collectible items. I need to get my compulsive shopping in order. Good thing I tend to hibernate during the winter. No outings for me. So, before I get cozy for the night, here are some items that have found their way into our home as of late. Hey-oh.
My giraffe print lamp. I had to.
The Core Bamboo salt and pepper holder. I needed this, right?
Melamine mixing bowls from a friend and a KidKraft mini playset.
Giraffe bangle from Target. I must have a thing for this animal now.
Glitter kitten heels. Brought these home from Walmart.
Two new reads.
Cache leather jacket. Another "had to."
Cups with saucers and charcoal portrait of my mother circa 1963, New York. Both sent from my Grandmother.
Mini ceramic piggy bank, painted by my little artist.
Okay, so the last three pictures were of priceless heirlooms that I most def need. The other things, I could live without. But, glad I don't have to.

Sugar Overload
My little fashion queen's second birthday was a huge success last month. I still can't believe she is two. Time sure does fly. She had her two year old check up today, and her pediatrician and nurses couldn't believe she was two either. But they probably say that to every kid. I don't know. This is my first rodeo.
Here are a few of the hundred snapshots of her party.
Neon Lights
Full Baked
So, yesterday was super enjoyable. We had lunch with William's grandmother, mom, siblings, and uncle who flew in from up north. He has the best family. Biggest, too. He has ten siblings. Yes, ten. And no, they aren't Pentecostal. I grew up basically an only kid (my three siblings were around 18 when I was born). That said, it's a wild experience for me come holiday time. Or really any family get together.. tons of loud stimulation. Never a dull (or quiet) moment. I do treasure every one of them, all fifty or so.
After lunch we did some shopping. Hey-oh! I feel like I haven't been "real" shopping in forever. Granted, it was basically window shopping downtown, but it still felt nice. I usually hibernate super hard during the winter, but yesterday was in the mid sixties and just lovely. I am so terrible at uploading pictures or I would share some. I haven't even posted any Christmas photos. My name is Jade and I am a slacker. That is step one. Admiting. Or, so I hear.
Anyprocrastinatingismyjam, here is my baked pork chop recipe. I made some yummy homemade mac and cheese tonight. It was delish beyond belief. I haven't uploaded those pics, obvs. So, this must suffice. By baking the pork chops, they come out very tender. Like fork cutting tender. Relatedly and unrelatedly at the same time, Tenderheart was always my favorite Carebear. Just putting that out there.
Baked Pork Chops
|| ingredients ||
4 center cut Pork Chops
1 tablespoon Butter
Water
Garlic Salt
Pepper
Garlic Powder
Lemon Pepper
Cajun Spice (optional)
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Put pork chops in a 9x13 baking dish. I used my Pampered Chef Rectangular Baker. Season tops with desired amount of salt, pepper, garlic powder, lemon pepper, and Cajun spice. Flip pork chops over. Pour enough water to cover the bottom of the dish. Lift up pork chops so that the water gets underneath. Season tops again with spices.
-Cut thin slices of butter and put on top of the pork chops. I used my garlic herb butter from the freezer. Yum.
-Bake in oven for an hour covered. Uncover and bake for another 10-15.

Bloggers I Stalk
Dear Lillie- This is one of my most favorite blogs to peek into. Jennifer Holmes, who blogs about her decor and her store, looks like she lives her life from inside a magazine page. Their home is just beautiful, with everything placed perfectly. She also has two little girls who are just gorgeous. Jennifer takes exquisite photos, which also makes me jealous. This is a full package.
Ramshackle Glam- One of my best friends made me go to this site, because of the similarities between myself and the writer of this blog, Jordan. She is married to a musician, loves do it yourselfing, travel, cooking, fashion, and has a new baby. Plus, she does little videos of her life, and I have completely fallen in love with this family. They are so real and so darn cute.
Love Maegan- Another good friend of mine told me to go to this website. After reading a few posts of her blog, I knew I wanted to become a blogger. It was my calling. I feel like Maegan is my blogger inspiration. She has an awesome sense of fashion and has made blogging a profession.
House of Turquoise- I just found this blog. It revolves around, yup, you guessed it, colors that are of the blue-green hue. I have always loved that color. It is just really calming. Zen-like. The photos on this blog are beautiful. It makes me want to seriously redecorate my house. On the reg.
Recaptured Charm- Another blog that makes me want to redecorate on a daily basis is this one. The brains behind the blog is a woman who finds old pieces of junky furniture and turns them into shabby chic pieces of art. If I had a garage that I could turn into a workshop, I would be out there sanding away furniture I scavenged. Scary thought. No, TLC, I don't want to be on your hoarding show.
Gal Meets Glam- This is my go to fashion blog. Julie's wardrobe is so fresh and fun. She puts together amazing looks. This blog doesn't help my shopping addiction. At. all.
There you have it. These are my favorite bloggers that I stalk pretty much every day. I hope these guys will make your eyes happy with their blogs, too.
