Colorful Music

I need more coffee. Grab a cup and sit down with me. We are heading to visit William's fam later today! We have missed them since they've moved. Tomorrow morning we're even participating in a 3 mile walk for an Alzheimer's organization William's grandmother founded. Should be interesting. Walking + the heat + eight a.m. just isn't my jam. But I'd do anything for Grandmama and for a great cause. Wish me luck.

Our drive there won't be too bad. We have Kira Willey's kiddie folk CD to sit-dance and sing to. I received her CD in the mail last week and am super excited to give it a full listen. My child needs something else besides Adele. Don't get me wrong, I'm very much in love with Adele and her album pretty much stays in my car. Anytime the radio is on, or another CD is playing, Adrienne yells, "Adellllle!!" from her perch as the backseat commander. I always oblige. What can I say? I'm easy like Sunday morning.

Anymychildrunstheshow, the award winning singer-songwriter, Kira Willey produces music that is happy, relaxing, and can even be used as a wonderful learning tool. The song Colors, you guessed it, goes through all the different shades of the rainbow, and then some. That song was even featured on a Dell computer commercial. Hey-oh. Being also a yoga instructor, Kira opened up her own studio in Pennsylvania, Fireflies Yoga, that teaches yoga and music to children.

As much as I want to put in Tupac and get gangster while driving, I can't, because I have my two year old in tow. I need kiddo friendly music and Kira's CD, "Kings & Queens of the Forest", is just that. She'll also be making a guest post on my blog tomorrow! So, be on the look out for that!!

I already packed my camera up, so I used my phone to snap some pics. This is Adrienne's really happy on the inside but doesn't express it on the outside face.

Thank you Kira for sending us your magical music.

Ollie the Owl and A Winner

Congratulations to Jaclyn Y. for winning the Lilla Rose giveaway. I will be contacting you this afternoon. Thank you all for entering the contest! There will be plenty more very soon!

Switching gears, last week I received a fabulous owl in the mail c/o Peace Pottery. I just fell in love with this little guy. I have always had a thing for owls. They are beautiful, intelligent creatures who, like me, love their night life. Yay partay. We decided to name him Ollie and welcomed him to his new perch on the T.V. stand. Home sweet home.

Peace Pottery's work is magnificent, as this owl clearly shows. Lindsay, the mastermind behind the pottery wheel, is a sweetheart. Her store on Etsy is pretty new, but she is churning out more stuffs as we speak. Check out some of her custom items on her Facebook page, here. I am lusting after her table settings and platters. ::swoon:: She is from my home state, so there are tons of Mississippi related items.

From magnets, to jewelry holders, to plates and mugs, these pieces of eye candy make amazing gifts. The prices are insanely reasonable, so while you are shopping for Aunt Beatrice's birthday gift, you might as well get something for yourself. It's a win, win type of situation.

Here is the photo shoot I did with Ollie. Enjoy!

Thank you Peace Pottery for my little Ollie. We loves him. You guys can purchase one of his siblings here.

Want to win a gift certificate to Lilla Rose? Yus. you. do. If you haven't heard about this awesome company, let me clue you in.  They sell the most amazing hair accessories. They also have things called O-Rings. They look very interesting, but I have no idea what they do. Their hair bands are super beautiful, too. Very music festival effortless chic.

Lilla Rose even offers the chance for their customers to sell these products. Like Avon or Pampered Chef parties, I guess. I'm all about those kinds of things.

Mungi Bands

Oh, to be a kid again. I always say that. Did I want to hurry up my childhood? Did I get sick of my teenage years? Yes. Stupidly, might I add. Being an adult is for the birds. Bills, stress, cooking, cleaning, bills, trying to justify telling your child no to another bowl of ice cream, (she can't still be hungry? maybe she is?) it's all hard to deal with on the reg.

But being a kid, you can't beat that with a stick. Everything is done for you, playing outside in the hot heat or the frigid cold is actually fun, holidays aren't stressful, and you still have an imagination. I mean, those little fun sized people go bat ish crazy over bubbles. Bubbles! I get winded and light headed just blowing a few rounds for the kiddo. Real talk.

The other day, I got a package from the wonderful people at Mungi Bands. They sent my little fashion queen two sets of their kiddie arm candy. I'm sure everyone, including their mamas, have heard or dealt with the Silly Bandz craze first hand. If you haven't, they are rubber bands that are molded into different shapes.

I was too old to get into that fad, and my child is too young to even know what regular rubber bands are. Mungi Bands are sort of the same concept. They're silcone bracelets that you can trade, just like the Silly Bandz. Except, what makes these guys so much cooler, is the fact that they don't lose their shape when you don them on your arm. Those Silly Bandz look like a bunch of silly, squiggly junk.

Mungi Bands come three in a pack, each one being half of a bracelet. Put two together and you have a whole bracelet. If you get really wild with it, you can stick more together to form a necklace or headband. They have magnets on each end to connect to each other. Making interchanging super easy.

The Mungi Bands come in different designs. If your kid (or you) is feeling like a rock star or has a need for all things princessy, there are bracelets for that. Something to suit every little budding human.

These make the perfect gifts for kids. Stocking stuffers? Totes. Being a parent and getting to try them out first hand? Lovett. Thanks Mungi Bands, for bringing out the kid in me, even if it was only for a few mintues.

You can purchase these guys for around 7-8 dollars a pack. They also come in small and large. We received the large pack and they fit me.

Hold The Phone

Okay. So, my kid has an iPhone. And, she is two. I know. I know. Send all your hater mail to idontgiveafudge@whocares.com. I kid. I made that email up. Back to my point. Adrienne has always been a little ahead of the game when it comes to electronics. It's in her genes. So, when she got old enough to get entranced by a rattle app on my iPhone, I let her. If it subsided the screams of babyhood while grocery shopping, I was fine with it. Stone me. Go ahead.

I mean, she learned all her shapes well before her second birthday. Thanks to her Melissa & Doug wooden puzzles, me, and yes, another app. She has a pink V-tech computer that she won't touch. She also has a Barbie pocket learner. She turns her button nose up at it. But, when it comes to my phone, she will snatch it up in a second. It started getting to the point where she always wanted to play games on it. I wasn't having that. William ended up giving her an old iPhone to pacify her. We have Otterboxes on our devices, but nothing on her "new" phone. We kept having to take off our cases to ensure protection on hers. That was a hassal. Then, the lovely people over at Infantino gifted our little techie with an adorbs solution. Enter the HappiTaps Bear. Genius.

This little plush guy is essentially an iPhone or iPod cover for tiny sized humans who have the need for these electronic devices. No more worrying about her dropping it on the floor. ::finger guns:: pshew pshew.

As soon as we received it, we tried it out. Which, might I add, was right before lunch. Big mistake. She didn't want to eat any of her food, due to the fact that all she wanted to do was play on the thing. I can't blame her. I wanted to, too.

The iPhone fit in super nicely. It also came with an extra thin pad to put behind an iPod to secure snugness and a plastic ring to hook onto things. Perfect to attach to a car-seat or stroller. I was expecting the HappiTaps to have a built in clear vinyl protector for the screen. It doesn't. Scratches in the screen? Maybe. Very easy for little hands to maneuver around the touch screen? Check.

The HappiTaps bear it easy for kids to hold. It sits perfectly in a child's lap. If the thing falls to the ground, there is enough padding on both sides to protect the device. That's what we really needed.

There is also a free app called Beary Happi: Lovable Friend just for the bear protector. It's essentially the face of the bear. It's very interactive and is like the 90's Tamagotchi pet, sans the death, for toddlers. Kids can feed Beary, put him to sleep, sing along to his songs, make him tell jokes, and even squeak his nose. There are lots more activities, but you have to buy the upgrades. There's always a catch. The cuteness is seriously worth the few dollars. The only problem I have with the app is that it doesn't cut off after a prolonged period of being on. Maybe there is a setting somewhere.

All in all, I am very satisfied with this product. I have looked at other hand held devices for kids from Leapfrog and V-tech. Major dollar signs. If you have an old iPhone lying around, it would be cheaper to just turn it into a learning device for your kiddos. Buy this HappiTaps case for it. Feel at ease with knowing it will be well protected. And don't be ashamed if you catch yourself playing hide-and-seek with the teddy on the Beary app. Lovett.

Here is a little video on the guy. I could seriously squeeze the stuffin' out of this bear.

Here are the products I mentioned up there:

I Spy

Today has been pretty much uneventful. I really don't have much to talk about. I started thinking how I haven't blogged about what's inside my purse in a long minute. So, here we go.

I, per usual, had no idea what was inside of it. As it turns out, the contents were just as boring as the day. Meh.

So, that's what's in my bag.
