Arm Candy

So, a few weeks ago, I got all crafty like and made some souped-up friendship bracelets. I already had the leather cord and tons of embroidery thread. After finding the other needed trinkets at Walmart, no Hobby Lobby here folks, I went into my sweat shop. After whipping a few of these suckers out in about thirty minutes, I was super proud of myself, and my arm thanked me.

I posted up my "how to" on here, but followed Honestly...WTF's guide. They explained it better and have better pics. Some people have all the luck.

DIY Friendship Bracelets
|| supplies ||
44-55 inches of Leather Cord (roughly)12-15 inches of Brass Ball Chain or Crystal Chain (roughly)
58-72 inches of Waxed Linen Cord or 2 Colors of Embroidery Thread (roughly. you get it)
1/4″ Brass Hex Nuts (hehe)
Some Scissors

IMPORTANT: The measurements above are for a DOUBLE WRAPPED BRACELET! I felt the need to let you know in all caps, because I totes read over that tidbit. If you want just a reg bracelet, half the measurements. And also, disregard my table. After seeing these photos, I'm going to be doing some refinishing.

Fold the leather in half to form a loop. The loop part needs to be big enough to fit around the hex nut.

Place the cord or embroidery thread parallel with the loop. Then wrap it around itself and the leather, working downwards. Sounds confusing. I know. Just wing it, or read the original instructions.

Place the crystal chain or ball chain along the leather with the end of the chain meeting the end of the embroidery thread wrap. Holding the chain against the leather, wrap the thread around tightly in between the crystals or balls.

Keep working until it fits nicely around your arm (twice).

When you've made it to the end of the crystal (or ball) chain, wrap the embroidery thread around the leather a few more times. Tie a knot with all four strands (if you are doing it with the embroidery thread).

Thread a hex nut through the strands and tie a second knot. Cut off any excess strands, and you're done!
